Dresses and tunics and shoes, oh my!

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

I really love dresses. And tunics. And shoes. Basically, anything drapey that I can throw over jeans, pants, tights, or leggings and kick up a notch with a fabulous shoe is what I go for. I’m posting a pic, but please be kind. I’m new at this! Arlene and I have been consistently taking pictures of each other to a) try and get comfortable in front of the camera, and b) warm up to the idea of putting ourselves out there for all to see (it’s scary — someone actually called Susie Bubble a “butt-ugly loser!”) Anyway, for me the dress/tunic is the epitome of effortless dressing. I mean, seriously, what’s easier than a dress and a shoe??? In my opinion, nothing. Which is why I work this look day in and day out. Be warned: you might get bored soon ;-)

100th Post!!!! We’re so Fabulous…

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Don’t you just love irony?

We wanted to do something spectacular and fabulous for our 100th post, but in an ironic twist of fate, this post is about what we did last week. A less-than-glamorous week of running around working a gigantic Hugo Boss sample sale — from load-in to break-down and everything in between, including an intimate pre-sale party for 300. The pictures really don’t explain all the time, energy, blood, sweat and tears that went into making this thing happen, nor do they convey all the interesting people we met and the crazy things that happened, but we thought it would be fitting — and fun — to share them with you nonetheless. This is just an example of the lives of Arlene and Brandon… we’ll do whatever it takes!

over 11,000 pieces ….Unloaded, set-up, beautifully merchandised, sold, broken down and moved out by 37 TEMPS!

A few of the professionals..

And to all of you who are kind enough to visit our blog, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We really don’t do this just to hear ourselves talk, so thanks so much for listening. And thanks to all you other bloggers who are a constant source of inspiration to us. We just love you all!

XOXOX,

Art + Fashion = Paper Fashion

Every now and then I stumble across something that really gets my attention. I don’t know why it doesn’t happen more often — I guess I don’t surf enough (but, seriously, how could that be possible?) Anyway, came across this fantastic exhibition via antwerpfashionobserver, Rrrip! Paper Fashion, that is currently touring Europe (why oh why only Europe??) and is presently residing in Antwerp, Belgium (home to such loves of ours as Maison Martin Margiela and Ann Demuelemeester). It’s a fascinating look at the journey and significance of paper, literally paper, fashion. Who knew?

lookbook>LES PRAIRIES DE PARIS

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Just received this great lookbook from Les Prairies De Paris.  I love this season (S09) …..menswear with that certain je ne sais quoi.    Each piece on it’s own is playful and relaxed, yet all together very chic.   Those Parisians!!  They get me all the time!  Looking forward to Fall!

Everyday fashion in the good old midwest

Monday, June 1st, 2009

I really have/had no intention of ever posting any style pics of myself, but I guess I’m warming up to the idea…not.   BUT perusing through all those fabulous fashion blogs out there, it just seems like so much fun to share, right??

So, here I am to share…style in the midwest.  I use to plan my outfit for the day, but nowadays I’d rather sleep!  Don’t get too excited, my style’s not that crazy.  In fact, it’s almost to the other exteme…simple.   I like my basics and my basic colors.
