Jewels, jewels, jewels

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

It’s no secret that I love me some accessories, and especially a good chunky piece of jewelry. During our latest buying trip to New York, we came across Greek-born, Italian-trained turned Paris-darling, Aris Geldis. Aris  has worked alongside some true fashion icons, including Alexander McQueen and the house of Chanel, with a most recent stint as jewelry designer for Christian Lacroix Haute Couture. He definitely knows what’s going on and has a design sensibility that has been recognized by some serious fashionistas. The thing that makes us love him even more is that he somehow creates his works of art at a price point that is actually attainable. We can’t wait to style these babies with our favorite Demylee cashmeres and those amazing graphic tees from Sophomore and Rogan. What’s an easier way to make a fashion splash than by throwing on a chunky necklace?? Look for Aris Geldis to hit the shop early next year. Trust us — you’ll be seeing a lot of this talented Greek!

Pretty little dresses

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

We love our dresses and now we love Gary Graham from NYC.  NYC, yes, but a graduate of our famed School of the Art Institute of Chicago :)  How impressive … he’s been out on his own for 10 years and has now recently earned himself a CFDA/Fashion Fund Finalist title (oh also, a shop-in-shop in one of my favs, ABC Home).  His beautiful creations are such a breath of fresh air from all the studs and rocker chic looks out there.   Wouldn’t you just LOVE any one of these pretty keepers?  Oh yes!

Nobody

Friday, October 16th, 2009

Jeans are possibly one of the hardest wardrobe pieces to find, no??  We have been on the hunt for a great pair of jeans for MONTHS (& months).  I think we’ve finally found the diamond…Nobody.   Their line boasts of the highly sought after Japanese denim that are authentically dyed for that worn-in-from-years-of-hard-work look, then woven on narrow looms and stonewashed.  Each are then finished off with vintage hardware. The best quality of Nobody and what we denim lovers seek to find?  The perfect fit.   With 30yrs in the denim trenches, they have all the fits down.  Now it’s all about the fashion :)

We’re happy to say we’ll have Nobody at The Shop next month!

And the winner is…

Thanks so much to all who entered our Loefflerpalooza contest and thanks especially for all of your kind words. Your support and encouragement are what keep us going! Arlene and I are so thankful that we get to do what we love every day and are equally grateful to have people with whom to share our love of fashion and the art of looking good every day. And we know as well as anyone that nothing takes an outfit to the next level quite like a fabulous pair of shoes. So, we were quite excited to share a pair of shoes with one lucky winner…

Coco and Kuma were both super excited…

and the winner is…

Congratulations, Monica!!! We’ll be contacting you shortly about your FREE NEW SHOES!!! Thanks again to all who participated. Here’s to many more anniversary giveaways to come!!

Are you guys getting ready for Halloween?  We are!  How much fun is a great (comfortable!) costume and a great Halloween party?  But since funds are a little tight now-a-days, we have to be creative with what we have.  So for our October Cover Story, we’ve put together some wickedly good costumes from twentythirtyforty.net .  Here’s a sneak peek … a few behind-the-scenes pics of our last photo shoot.  Happy Halloween!

This fantastic garden & home was the perfect backdrop…

and the fabulous Tessa…making sure all is perfect in the shot.

Hermes, streetstyle

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

Has anyone seen the new Hermes F09 advertising?  As if our love for the ultimate accessory, the scarf, wasen’t deep enough!  This campaign certainly needs to be seen over and over again (possibly even hung up in our closets!) just for the style inspirations alone.  Here their ode to the scarf…streetstyle.  Genious!!!

Seeing red

Friday, October 2nd, 2009

We understand color can sometimes be a challenge, but just a hint of it can really add a lot of fun to your look and mood! Especially now when fall is in full force and we’re back into black.  Our color in our wardrobe this season is RED.  It’s power packed!  What other color exudes so much confidence and playfulness at the same time?  Don’t believe us?  Then take your cue from Alexander McQueen’s McQ prefall line…

I say, go for the red shoe!  Here’s our pick…these always put a smile on our face and a pep in our step!
