Lookbook love

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

We recently worked with a new photographer — the lovely and talented Erika Dufour. I’m not going to lie to you, we were scared. We’ve been working with Karl Rothenberger for a long time now and the 3 of us definitely have our groove down. We love and adore Karl, we love and adore his work and we love and adore working with him, BUT he lives in New York. This means that we’ve had to try and find someone local. Not an easy task, mind you.

Well, we are pleased to announce that the shoot with Erika went off without a hitch. Super-fun all-female (and a little canine) energy filled Erika’s studio that day, and the final result is more than we could have hoped for. We’re very happy and very proud. So happy and proud, in fact, that we’re posting it here. Hope you love it as much as we do =)

Art + Fashion = Country & College

Country & College is this incredibly creative accessory editorial from Jalouse (Oct 09).  Brandon & I have discovered a number of times that prop/accessory styling is more than challenging.  There’s no model involved to inspire or make everything look pretty.  So, I have to take a minute and just give credit where credit is due.  My creative hero’s this week are…Laure Ambroise, Laetitia Hotte, Eric Pillault & Jennifer Audinet.  This dream team created Country & College along with two other accessory stories, all three featured within the same issue…all three are brilliant.  This one, particulary, left Brandon & I constantly flipping from one shot to the next and then back again, leaving us wondering “how’d they come up with that??”.   Nice to see fabulous fashion accoutrements take on another life and also nice to see the Marc Jacobs bunny ears styled inside the house than outside ;)

Celebrity girl crush

Friday, June 11th, 2010

I have many celebrity girl crushes, but this story is about Princess Buttercup, Jenny… Robin Wright. I just love her natural, unkempt beauty. And she’s always had this sort of soft-but-rough edge to her that’s only gotten better with age. She is not the most amazing and natural model, but I still adore these shots of her by Peter Lindbergh for Italian Vogue.

So this could be anyone. But I just love how Lindbergh threw in this pop of color. And I think it fits with the whole story -- kind of undone "done."

Maybe my favorite shot, it's like seeing a famously beautiful actress in HD. Lines and aging are part of real life, baby. And she is beautiful.

Many thanks to Fashion Gone Rogue for the images and the inspiration.
