March 5, 2010. A very important date.
Friday, March 5th, 2010Alice in Wonderland fans will know I’m talking about the release of Tim Burton’s take on the classic Carroll story. A while back, I posted about Alice and was eagerly anticipating the unveiling of exclusive Alice designs for Printemps in Paris. Somehow, I completely forgot about it until I started thinking about who I could get to go to see the movie with me tonight. Surprise, surprise, they’ve been up for over 2 weeks now!!! In case you haven’t seen them, here’s a glimpse.
First, Alexander McQueen. {I have been struggling with what to say about his passing. I just adored him and what he brought to the world of fashion and am so, so sad that he is gone. The world of fashion won’t be the same without him.}

It’s funny that we never talk about shoes because they are truly an all-consuming obsession with us. A beautiful shoe is like a work of art. The first pair of designer shoes I bought were a pair of Christian Louboutins from his trash series. They’re mules and I can’t wear them, but I will happily put them in a lucite box and hang them on my wall. A designer that we’ve been watching lately is Brit Nicholas Kirkwood. While his pieces appear to be art first and footwear second, he is a master of construction. Regardless of that infamous fall at Rodarte, I contend that his shoes are sturdy, wearable, and utterly fabulous.
