What we’re wearing: samesies

April 27th, 2012

We often joke that we are attached at the head. We think the same things, say the same things, and very frequently show up at the office wearing the same thing. Sometimes we are literally wearing the same item, but more often than not we’ll be wearing similar but different takes on the same outfit.

Case in point: the day we both showed up wearing round-toe pumps with bows (with grey and white ensembles, obvs).

I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen Arlene wear these shoes. And this was the very first outing for my little pink and black cuties. Why am I not surprised that we wore them on the same day??

On Arlene: Mai cashmere sweater, Anagram oversized white shirt, Rogan jeans, Olivia Morris pumps, Dream Collective and Zora necklaces.

On Brandon: Demylee cashmere cardigan, Sophomore tee, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel pants, Marc by Marc Jacobs pumps.

happy {let it rip} tuesday!

April 24th, 2012

wow, are we really knee deep into spring (how did that happen?!).  are there any trends that you’ve really been into this spring or still waiting to try?  there’s a few out there, outerwear, baseball caps, florals, mint.   i’m big on denim and always love to see what’s new on the denim front.  ripped & frayed is nothing new, but this season they’re taking ripped & frayed to the new ankle length jean, taking it to all different denim styles and overall taking it to a whole new level.  hmmmm…diy??

Styling…menswear

April 23rd, 2012

Oh how we love to borrow from the boys. We both have closets filled with button-ups, vests, oxfords and giant watches, so we were thrilled when our friend Becky Hill suggested a menswear theme for our very first collaboration together.

Here’s our edit of the results. We hope you enjoy it!

What we’re wearing: sightseeing in Chinatown

April 20th, 2012

Welcome to a new weekly installment on the blog: What we’re wearing. Everyone always tells us that they want to see what we’re wearing, so we’ve finally decided to give the people what they want! Up first? What we wore while sightseeing in San Francisco.

Chinatown in any city is very near and dear to our hearts. Something about it always cheers us up. Maybe it’s the fact that Arlene always spots the best signs in a sea of stimulation (signs like “Serve yourself and pay less”), so when we were in San Fran, it was an area we hung out in quite a bit.

On Brandon: Gar-de leather motorcycle jacket, Etoile Isabel Marant dress, Gary Graham printed leggings, MM6 lug sole pumps (picked up the day before on a shopping spree with Anne Sage in Hayes Valley at the lovely store Rand + Statler — always gotta find time for shopping!)

On Arlene (color and comfort!): Surface To Air basketweave crewneck sweater (1 left in the shop!), Rachel Comey paisley blouse, Rogan skinny jeans, and Dieppa Restrepo purple suede penny loafers.

Check back here every Friday to see What We’re Wearing!

THANK YOU Nathan Michael for snapping our photo!!

Proud Little Show Pony

April 14th, 2012

We are so excited to tell you about the launch of a truly inspiring and beautiful new online project called Show Pony: a quarterly magazine dedicated to all things small business (a subject very near and dear to our hearts).

The magazine’s founder and editor-in-chief, Becky Hill, travels the globe (literally) finding, meeting, bonding with, and photographing & interviewing people pursuing their passions. From Guatemalan craftswomen and Canadian foodies to lesbian potters and Chicago fashionistas (ahem, yours truly), Show Pony gives you an inside look into a wide range of businesses and business owners.

We had the pleasure of meeting Becky at a social media conference back in December of 2010 and it was clear from the start that she was a gal who had it goin’ on. Friendly, likable, smart and interesting, she quickly won our trust and confidence. Anything that Becky was doing, we wanted to be a part of.

Lucky for us, the feeling was mutual and Becky asked us to participate in her new project, Show Pony. She not only asked us if she could feature us as inspiring entrepreneurs (What? Um, YEAH!), but also to contribute as fashion editors.

So, to make a long story short, we are proud, honored and ECSTATIC to be introducing you to the first issue of what is destined to become a must-read. Filled with inspirational stories, beautiful photography and sage advice (did you know that, in most states, you can’t collect unemployment while launching your small business?!), we welcome you to the world of Show Pony.

Michelle Scott, painter. Her grandfather was the recipient for the first ever Academy Award for Best Documentary.

Go check out Issue One, you guys. So. Good. And we can assure you that it’s hardworking, beautiful, and just boastful enough to qualify as a true Show Pony.

Eatable Of Many Orders

April 6th, 2012

I just love the internet for all the great things you can find! Recently I came across the cutest bags from a Japanese line called Eatable Of Many Orders.

Such great shapes and details…

An updated hobo, a new briefcase, a cute bag that will work around my waist as well as my arm?

I think it’s safe to say that I’m a fan.

Eatable of Many Orders is available at Maryam Nassir Zadeh.
