This week’s photography obsession: Mason Poole for Jalouse

Friday, April 22nd, 2011

Flipping through the latest 2 issues of Jalouse Magazine I fell in love with 2 editorials. They are very different and I love them for very different reasons, but they were both shot by the same photographer: Mason Poole.

What I love about both of these latest 2 is his composition. They’re both so beautiful to look at (and much better in print than they are represented here, so get yourself some Jalouse!)

My first favorite is Viva La Mode from Jalouse March 11.

I love the whole Frida Kahlo inspiration and the way that Camille Pourcheresse pulls of the hair and make-up and the styling. And Sebastien Campos’ styling is… God, I don’t have the words, but suffice it to say that I’m impressed and inspired.

styling by Sébastien Campos, hair by Vincent De Moro, make-up by Michael Noiselet, featuring Camille Rowe Pourcheresse

My second favorite is Queen Hailey from Jalouse April 11.

This one is all about the composition. The use of the lines and shapes of the ship with the model and the clothing. It’s just breathtaking.

Sheer perfection.

styling by Marine Braunschvig, hair by Terry Millet, make-up by Nellie Kim, featuring Hailey Gates

I would love to have the Queen Hailey ones printed and framed for my boudoir/closet. Wouldn’t that be a nice inspiration when you’re getting dressed in the morning?

Check out the Mason Poole website to view more of his work. And try to get your hands on the last 2 issues of Jalouse to see Viva La Mode and Queen Hailey in print, and in their entirety.

Oui, Oui!

That is, Oui Oui Jalouse!  Oui Oui!  We love it when our glossy’s hit the studio and we always anticipate our Jalouse’s and Numero’s.  Such a treat for the senses and so inspiring (I can’t even read french!)  This issue was packed with a lot of what we love.  I am now on the hunt for another striped shirt, as well as a pair of Celine platforms and I could not believe the Jalouse team tackled the challenging fashion runway item-of-the-moment (thanks to Marc Jacobs)…the bloomer.  Yikes!  Well, clearly, not a challenge for this team.  Just couldn’t believe how beautiful and how many ways they styled them…editorial after editorial after editorial. Oh those Parisians!

Loves it!!

My platform choice for the season...ah, Celine...

how

how amazing..love the bold stripes & lips

Art + Fashion = Country & College

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

Country & College is this incredibly creative accessory editorial from Jalouse (Oct 09).  Brandon & I have discovered a number of times that prop/accessory styling is more than challenging.  There’s no model involved to inspire or make everything look pretty.  So, I have to take a minute and just give credit where credit is due.  My creative hero’s this week are…Laure Ambroise, Laetitia Hotte, Eric Pillault & Jennifer Audinet.  This dream team created Country & College along with two other accessory stories, all three featured within the same issue…all three are brilliant.  This one, particulary, left Brandon & I constantly flipping from one shot to the next and then back again, leaving us wondering “how’d they come up with that??”.   Nice to see fabulous fashion accoutrements take on another life and also nice to see the Marc Jacobs bunny ears styled inside the house than outside ;)

I wish!  No…this is favorite editorial #2.  Kaze No Uta Wo Kike (translated-’cover up, it’s cold outside’) from Jalouse this past Sept09.  It’s been posted on my board for a few to many weeks now.  Everything about this editorial is very near & dear …. the layers and layers of knits & scarves, nature + city, Asia & the Far East and the piece de resistance…the cute bebe.
