Pre-Fall 2012: Seeing Red

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

I’ve been diligently attempting to catch up on the Pre-Fall collections and I have happily come across one of my favorite trends: RED!

Actually, I should say one of our favorites. Someone recently asked Arlene and me separately what our favorite color was and we both said red. Don’t look so surprised. We’re dressed alike more often than not.

All I want for Christmas is… Shoes

Monday, November 28th, 2011

I spent a good portion of my weekend oohing and ahhing over sale shoes. It is that time of year, after all. I’m off to NYC this coming weekend, so I’m having to restrain myself (which is not one of my strong points), but here’s just a few that I wouldn’t mind seeing under my Christmas tree.

{If I had to pick just one, it would undoubtedly be #1, the Isabel Marant zebra print suede pumps. L O V E.}

I may have to bite on those Isabel Marant ones…

1. Isabel Marant Gatsy zebra-print suede pumps

2. Margiela wool-covered leather ankle boots

3. Jil Sander mesh oxford pump

4. Chloe two-tone Elaphe pumps

5. Robert Clergerie Olympy wedge

6. Miu Miu oxford wedges

7. Thimister platform wedge

8. Marni patent leather and suede wood platforms

9. Rag & Bone Odval desert wedge

10. Surface To Air lace-up suede wedge

11. Proenza Schouler lattice wedge

Inspired by…Rag & Bone

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Brandon and I had such a fun time at the Rag & Bone event this past week…Thank you Intermix!  Thank you Elle!  We had a lovely time meeting the founders/designers of Rag & Bone, chatting it up about the next big things with Intermix owner Haro Keledjian (genius I tell you!!), “tucking in” some champagne as Marcus Wainwright from Rag & Bone had described it and to top it off, we even had our picture taken :)  All in all a very fun night!  I have and wore that evening this cool piece from Rag & Bone, a classic blue/white seersucker blazer.  I love it, I love the way it fits & feels on and I love a classic seersucker.  You can throw on something completely wacky and a cute seersucker blazer can balance it all out…shocking, but true.   My outfit that evening (inspired the very next day’s outfit and possibly, maybe, also the compliment David Nevill paid Brandon & I on our style that evening :)  Yep, that might be it)

the next day inspired a white oversized tee, Nobody Rue Jean, Mason white blazer, Chloe bowed pumps.

funny thing...I actually got compliments on my hubby's tee!

Pants, pants, pants!

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

We saw so many amazing pants in NYC last week! For Fall 2010, it is all about the pants. Harem pants, soft pants, leggings, patchwork, panelling… When Arlene and I started this website, we were pretty adamant that we would sell only a tiny offering of pants (knowing that finding the perfect pair of jeans is one of the most tortuous undertakings that any woman can endure). Well this season we’re breaking all of our own rules! Just look at all the fabulous pants that made their way down the runway.

Leggings and panelling at Rag and Bone and Derek Lam…

and at Ohne Titel and The Row…

and from a couple of TwentyThirtyForty.net’s faves, Gar-de and Mason…

And lots and lots and lots of soft pants. My favorite — mmmmm, so cozy.

Acne

Costello Tagliapietra, Max Mara, and The Row…

and some super soft and slouchy offerings from Loeffler Randall. We adored her seashell pocket pant from last Spring, so we’re totally jazzed about these!

and, of course, the lovely Rachel Comey (quickly becoming my very favorite pant designer)

We’re just barely entering the Spring season, there’s still snow on the ground here, and all I’m looking forward to is next fall! The world of fashion is soooo confusing, but bring on the pants!!
