Yestadt obsessed. Still.

Monday, June 6th, 2011

I was doing my general surfing troll when I wandered over to my very favorite millinery, Yestadt. I’ve been obsessed for a while. I just love all of her styles.

And in case you don’t know by now, I am consumer #1. I love cool and beautiful things and I often shell out cash that I really don’t have for things that I feel just have to come home with me. Do you know that feeling? Ever seen something and you just know it’s special and this is your shot and you just have to have it?

Or is it just me?

Anyway, Yestadt. Love. Obsessed.

Here’s a peek at Fall (I know, I know, we’re all still pining for Summer. Just go with me):

Love the horn detail. It may be a pain in the neck, literally, but I'm willing to suffer.

So many cute turbans! I’ll admit that I’m a little turban-skewed, but these both seem totally wearable to me. That knit one could be a great solution for your average run-of-the-mill bad hair day. Actually, just about any hat is the perfect solution for a bad hair day!

So what about you? Do you do hats?

Hat love

This actually started as a turban post (I’m kind of obsessed right now), but quickly turned into a Yestadt Millinery post. I’ve blogged about Yestadt before, but hadn’t visited their site in a while. Just absolutely loving what they’re doing for Spring11. And now there are actually TWO turbans calling my name. Go figure.

Mmm, so need this for Summer. (Can't believe I'm thinking about Summer already!)

and their headbands are so adorable, too…

Now if only I could figure out how to rock a veil in my day-to-day life

Girl power: Yestadt Millinery

Monday, March 1st, 2010
Molly Yestadt and Yestadt Millinery are stars on the rise. For Fall09, without having ever sold a single hat to a boutique, they created a collection of porkpie hats for Marc Jacobs mens and are now selling their wares in stores like Intermix and Henri Bendel. She’s been likened to be the next Stephen Jones and that’s not undeserved flattery. Celebrities and designers have both taken notice of Molly’s unique and fabulous hats — Rhianna and Leighton Meester have been spotted in her creations, and in addition to her collaboration with Marc Jacobs, she’s created headgear for Vena Cava and Thom Browne — they did men’s pillboxes. Pillboxes! She is a woman who truly lives her art — she is passionate about hat-making and clearly does it because she loves it.

During our New York trip we had the felicitious good fortune to meet Molly and her equally fabulous business partner, Jane, and get a sneak peek at what they’re doing for Fall.

I love hats and quickly and eagerly jump aboard whatever hat trend happens to be around, but I’m not sure that I would ever buy a hat without trying it on. We would love to carry Yestadt in our shop, but do people buy hats online? Would you??

Hat Love: Yestadt Millinery

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

Through our dear friend, David (proprietor of one of our all-time favorite Chicago stores, Hazel), we have discovered a new love: Molly Yestadt and her beautiful hats. David saw the line recently in New York and was instantly smitten. Knowing that the line wasn’t the perfect fit for his store, David is sort of on a mission  to find it a loving, appreciative and appropriate home — basically, someone who can share his love of these gorgeous works of art, but also sell them. To this end, he practically chased me down the street to give me the Yestadt Millinery lookbook and linesheets. He couldn’t stop gushing about the beauty and workmanship of each individual piece — Molly hand-blocks every single hat (which basically means that each hat is a like a little one-of-a-kind hat sculpture). With headgear like this, I can’t say I blame him for his enthusiasm.

I love a hat – so much – so it is very refreshing for me to see someone out there so dedicated and passionate about making hats and keeping them current. I first fell in love with her hats, but then, after visiting her website, I kind of fell in love with Molly.

Her blog totally sucked me in. It is filled with all things hat. From behind-the-scenes to old Hollywood to new Hollywood to the runway and absolutely everything in between, I am a devotee for sure.

Long live Yestadt Millinery and long live the Hat!
